Hyvis is collaborating with Highend and the Korea Textile Smart Process Research Institute to localize advanced materials for aerospace and defense.

On November 3, Hyvis signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Highend, a company specializing in thermal control and insulation technology, and the Korea Textile Smart Process Research Institute (PROI) in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Min-seong, head of the Hyvis Research Institute; Hwang Seung-sik, CEO of Highend; and Park Seong-yun, head of PROI.

This agreement aims to establish a domestic cooperation system that encompasses materials, parts, processes, and equipment to meet the demand for high-performance materials in the aerospace and defense sectors. The three organizations plan to jointly develop material technologies suitable for advanced industries, including aerospace clothing, ultra-high insulation materials, and strategic defense materials.

Under the agreement, Hyvis will be responsible for developing textile materials for the aerospace and defense industries. Highend, which supplied insulation materials for the Nuri rocket that successfully launched in October, will develop components based on its proprietary insulation and thermal control technologies. Meanwhile, PROI will handle the development of processes and equipment to convert materials into components, leveraging its experience in developing metal fiber structures for satellites and radar antennas.

In particular, the three organizations will focus on localizing multi-layer insulation (MLI) materials for satellites. MLI is a key insulation component that protects satellite internal equipment from extreme temperature conditions in space. The plan is to combine Hyvis's polyester material technology with Highend's insulation and thermal control technologies to reduce reliance on foreign materials.

Lee Min-seong, head of the Hyvis Research Institute, stated, "This agreement will serve as an opportunity for Hyvis to expand its accumulated textile material technology into the future new business of aerospace and defense. Through cooperation that encompasses materials, parts, and processes, we will contribute to the localization of advanced materials and accelerate the discovery of high-value new materials."
