SEOUL, November 05 (AJP) - South Korean drone maker Preneu and a consortium led by DamsTech won top honors in a government-organized competition testing drones against counter-drone systems, the Defense Ministry said Thursday.

The two-day competition was held on Nov. 3 and 4 at the Seungjin Training Ground in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, bringing together six teams selected through preliminary rounds in June.

Three drone teams and three counter-drone teams competed in six matches, testing their ability to carry out missions and counter opposing systems under simulated battlefield conditions.

Preneu took first place in the drone category, while the DamsTech consortium, which includes Ubify and RFCore, won the counter-drone category.

The winners will receive Defense Minister's awards, cash prizes and opportunities to participate in military field trials, along with additional points when applying for government support programs.

The competition was jointly organized by the Defense Ministry and five other government agencies to encourage cooperation between civilian technology developers and the military.

The ministry said it would continue supporting drone and counter-drone technologies to strengthen South Korea's unmanned warfare capabilities.
