The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) is launching a program to train financial educators within military units to help prevent financial accidents and promote sound asset management among military personnel.

From November 9 to 12, the FSS will conduct a 'Financial Training for Defense Financial Officers' for 42 financial officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and directly affiliated units of the Ministry of National Defense.

This training comes as military personnel see an increase in financial assets due to salary hikes and expanded savings programs, such as the Military Personnel Tomorrow Preparation Savings Plan. It aims to address the risks associated with high-risk virtual asset investments and online illegal gambling.

The training curriculum includes basic financial knowledge covering savings, investments, credit, and insurance, as well as responses to financial fraud, support for low-income finance, debt adjustment systems, and teaching techniques.

To prevent reckless virtual asset investments, the program will also include education on understanding blockchain and virtual assets, along with preventive training using case studies of illegal gambling victims.

Participants who complete the training and wish to become certified will undergo a written evaluation and a teaching demonstration, after which they will receive a 'Military Financial Educator Certification' signed by the FSS Commissioner. Certified financial officers will serve as financial educators in their respective units.

An FSS official stated, "We plan to support the enhancement of financial capabilities among military personnel by providing various financial education content to military units."
