South Korea's Kospi index rose 0.75 percent to 2007.80 on Jan. 10.
China‘s trade data came in better than expected, which helped Kospi rise. China's exports expanded 14 percent in December from a year earlier, while imports increased 6 percent.
Samsung Electronics soared 2 percent to 1.53 million won. Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors rose 0.9 percent each, while LG Chem and SK hynix climbed 1.1 percent and 2.8 percent, respectively.
But Posco slipped 0.1 percent and Hyundai Mobis dropped 0.3 percent.
