Kim Yu-na won the women's competition at the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships in Canada on Saturday with 218.31 points in total.

The South Korean scored 148.34 points to lead the free skating program on Saturday. On Thursday, she also topped the short program with 69.97 points.

Carolina Kostner of Italy, the 2012 world champion, placed second with 197.89 points in total, while Mao Asada of Japan ranked third with 196.47 points.

This is Kim's second world title, following the 2009 victory in Los Angeles. Kim, the gold medalist at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games, was skating at the world championships for the first time since 2011, when she finished second.

Kim's world title performance this time gave South Korea three spots in women's figure skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
