According to the data compiled by Incheon International Airport Corp., the number of people who used the airport terminal to take international and domestic flights totaled 45.5 million in 2014, up 9.7 percent from a year ago.
Of them, 44.9 million or 98.7 percent were international flight passengers, marking a 10.1 percent rise from 2013.
Air cargo traffic handled at the Incheon airport reached 2,560,000 tons, up 3.8 percent from a year ago, while arriving and departing flights rose 6.9 percent to 290,000 on-year in 2014.
Officials at the corporation attributed a rise in the number of Incheon airport users to the launch of more routes between South Korea and China, an influx of Chinese tourists, lower oil prices and the growth of local low-cost carriers.
