North Korean female shopkeepers, clad in hanbok, or traditional Korean dress offer souvenirs for sale at a shop near a palace site in the North Korean border city of Gaeseong, Thursday. Earlier in the day, South Korean scholars attended the opening ceremony of a joint exhibition of artifacts recovered from the palace site. Gaeseong was the capital of Korea's Gogyeo Kingdom (918-1392). The exhibition is part of programs to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule (1910-1945).
