Nintendo, a Japanese video game company famous for games and characters such as "Pokémon" and "Super Mario Bros.", has released its next generation console "Nintendo Switch", a hybrid device offering both portable and home gaming experience in a single console.
Nintendo Switch can be seen on Nintendo's new official website which opened on 11:00pm (1400 GMT) Thursday. Although no exact price was not disclosed, the new console is confirmed to be released in March 2017.
The new device consists mainly of two parts -- Nintendo Switch Console with a 1280 x 720 IPS LCD display and Nintendo Switch Dock which connects to an external display like TV and monitor and charges the console.
A pair of controllers called Joy-cons can be attached to the console itself or can be used as independent wireless controllers. Other controllers in a classic form are available.
The Japanese gaming godfather has added a unique feature to its new console to support offline multi-players. Numerous people can bring their Nintendo Switch together to enjoy local multiplayer face-to-face competition. Other gaming consoles such as Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One support multi-players through an internet connection, not local wireless networks.
