It can be painful to sell a used car on their own. Selling your used car to a dealership would be the easiest but it can be nearly impossible to get compensated for the value you want.
Max Lanman, a writer and a director based in Los Angeles, California, made a video to help his girlfriend, Carrie, to sell her 96' Honda Accord, dubbed Greenie, and posted an ad on eBay for $499. Her car's Kelley Blue Book Value is about $1,400.
Lanman's luxury car parody video ad on YouTube went viral and garnered over 1.1 million views. The bid climbed up all the way over $50,000 currently, surpassing Lanman's expectations and still has about 5 days to bid.
The director said it took him over a year to make. His girlfriend is surprised the attention her 11-year-old car is amassing.
The video begins with a narrator's soothing voice, "You. You're different. You do things your way. That's what makes you one of a kind."
An actress gets ready and gets in her car. The narrator says, "You don't care about money. You have everything you ever wanted." In the car, the woman has a Persian cat accompanying her journey.
She even has a pot of coffee in her passenger seat. She casually pours it over a mug and sips it. The narrator continues, "And this. This is not a car. This is you. It's a lifestyle. A choice. Your choice."
The video ends with parody tagline, "Luxury is state of mind."
