SEOUL -- South Korean web service giant Naver will collaborate with LG U+, a telecom company, to release an AI speaker in the shape of Minions from a 2015 American 3D computer-animated comedy film.
Telecomm industry officials said Wednesday that the Minions-themed AI speaker featuring Clova, Naver's AI platform, will soon be released. Naver and LG U+ had previously worked together to release a variety of specially-themed AI speakers made in the shape of popular characters from Naver's smartphone messenger app service LINE.
Users can speak with the Minions without having to connect to Clova and ask it to play music or control other devices connected to a home IoT (Internet of Things) network. There are more than one million AI speakers being used at homes and offices in South Korea.
