Actor Kim Soo-hyun joins rookie entertainment agency

SEOUL -- Kim Soo-hyun, a 31-year-old Hallyu (the Korean cultural wave) star, finally found his management company six months after he was discharged from the military. He joined Gold Medalist, a new entertainment agency founded by popular TV drama and film producers.

Gold Medalist, headed by Kim Mi-hye who produced "Extreme Job", a 2018 hit movie, said in a statement on Wednesday that the company has signed an exclusive management contract with Kim Soo-hyun. 

Lee Ro-bae, a drama producer, and Kim Mi-hye have worked together with the actor since his appearance in the 2009 TV drama, "Will It Snow for Christmas?" Seo Ye-ji and Kim Sae-ron, who are seen as promising next-generation actresses, also joined the agency which will focus on star management and content creating.

Kim Soo-hyun, who debuted in 2007, gained international fame for his role in "My Love from the Star", a 2013 TV drama that caused a "My Love from the Star phenomenon" in China and Southeast Asia. The drama was watched more than four billion times on Chinese video content streaming services.
