Cars housing top-notch technologies have various sensors to detect nearby traffic and pedestrians. Sensors collect information on other cars in the front and rear of a moving vehicle so that the car's processor can decide whether to engage automatic brakes or slow down to avoid a collision.
LG Electronics said in a statement on October 6 that the company has started the mass production of vehicle front-facing cameras that were co-developed by AG Daimler. The cameras will be fitted into the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) of Benz C-Class cars.
LG cameras will work on algorithms that offer various features such as automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assistant (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW), adaptive cruise control (ACC), traffic sign recognition (TSR), and intelligent headlight control (IHC). LG said its camera can counteract different on-road situations in real-time thanks to artificial intelligence and deep learning abilities.
"LG and Daimler AG have spent some 10 years to try new things and contemplate in an effort to create a safer driving environment that will suit the future era of autonomous driving," LG's vehicle component solution division president Kim Jin-yong was quoted as saying.
