Matte displays feature a light-scattering antireflection layer, which reduces reflectivity at the cost of decreased contrast and color intensity under dimly-lit conditions.
Samsung's new product called "ViewFinity S8" with 3,840x2,160 pixels resolution was verified as a glare-free monitor by UL, a global safety certification company. The monitor is available in 32 and 27-inch sizes. ViewFiniity S8 monitors include new models and other high-resolution products with 2560x1440 pixels or higher.
"We are proud to offer this monitor to designers, artists and professionals who will use our technology to create new ideas and experiences that realize their full potential," Samsung's visual display business head Ha Hye-sung said in a statement on June 20.
Domestic sales began on June 20, carrying a price tag of 820,000 won ($635) for the 32-inch model and 720,000 won for the 27-inch model. Global sales will begin at the end of June.
