SEOUL, August 20 (AJU PRESS) - Suga, a member of K-pop boy band BTS, is set to be summoned for questioning over allegations of drunk driving, police said Monday. The 31-year-old star was caught driving an electric scooter last week, sparking global debate about his future with the seven-member group.
Suga, currently serving his mandatory military service in a public-sector desk job, issued an apology on Aug. 13, admitting that he drove the scooter after having dinner and drinks. The incident occurred when he fell while attempting to use the scooter's kickstand, prompting an investigation by a nearby police officer.
The National Police Agency clarified that while an investigation has not yet begun, they are coordinating with Suga to schedule his questioning. "We will investigate in detail various suspicions, such as why Suga drove under the influence," a police spokesperson said, adding that the schedule will be finalized this week.
Authorities emphasized that Suga will be treated like any other suspect, with no special accommodations. The police also dismissed concerns of preferential treatment, confirming that the singer would be summoned during regular daytime hours on weekdays.
