Local officials stated that the cumulative death toll has risen due to the heavy rains that have continued in various parts of the state as of Thursday, adding that a wall near the runway of Rajkot International Airport collapsed.
Around 18,000 residents in the affected areas have been evacuated, and about 40,000 residents from regions that have not yet been affected have also moved to safe zones.
The rain has temporarily stopped in Vadodara city, but the Vishwamitri River, which flows through the city, has overflowed, submerging houses, roads, and cars.
Crocodiles inhabiting the Vishwamitri River have entered residential areas, posing a threat to the residents.
The water levels in 140 reservoirs and dams, as well as in 24 rivers in Gujarat, have reportedly exceeded the danger levels.
