The number of foreign residents in Korea in 2023 was 2,507,584, nearly returning to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels seen in 2019, when the figure was 2,524,656, according to the Ministry of Justice.
The number of foreign residents with specialized skills increased from 45,143 in 2021 to 72,146 last year. The number of foreign residents with simple labor skills grew by 80,899 during the same period, reaching a total of 450,425.
