SEOUL, September 23 (AJP) - Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), the country's largest nuclear power plant operator, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Czech Hydrogen Technology Platform (HYTEP) on Friday to collaborate on clean hydrogen initiatives in Europe.

The agreement, inked during an industry and energy technology cooperation forum in Prague, Czech, aims to strengthen the two organizations' competitiveness in the global clean hydrogen market.

Under the MOU, KHNP and HYTEP will cooperate on developing nuclear-based clean hydrogen production technologies, advancing fuel cell technologies, and exchanging information alongside hydrogen-related policies and regulations.

HYTEP, founded in 2007, is a key player in formulating Czech national hydrogen strategies and spearheading related research and projects. KHNP had previously held a forum and business consulting in Czech on hydrogen energy in April this year.

"We will strive to achieve positive results in the European market by leveraging our domestic hydrogen-related technologies and expertise in cooperation with the Czech Republic," said Kong Young-gon, head of KHNP's H₂ & Smart Business Department.
