SEOUL, October 8 (AJP) - The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China announced on Monday that four officials have been punished for disciplinary violations, as part of the country's ongoing anti-corruption campaign. This is part of wider efforts to strengthen key sectors and ensure sustainable development.

One of the officials, Tang Yijun, former chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was expelled from the party and removed from office. Tang's misconduct involved accepting lavish meals, unauthorized travel perks, and gifts such as cash and gift cards. He also allowed others to cover his personal expenses and was uncooperative during official investigations.

Dou Wangui, a member of the leading party group of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee of the CPPCC and vice chairman of the committee, was found guilty of abusing his position to benefit relatives and friends in business deals, mine exploitation, and project contracts. In return, he accepted money and gifts. He has also been expelled from the party and removed from office.

Zhang Ping, former deputy head of Guizhou's discipline inspection commission and provincial supervision commission, faced similar consequences. He was expelled from the party for seeking personal benefits in the appointment of officials and failing to be transparent during investigations.

Lastly, Du Zi, former deputy head of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Inner Mongolia, was also expelled from the party for serious breaches of party discipline and law. Du allegedly used his influence to secure personal gains in areas like project contracts, coal resource allocation, and job placements, accepting illegal payments and valuables in return.
