UAE pushes for stronger global partnerships at BRICS summit

SEOUL, October 25 (AJP) - UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with several world leaders at the 2024 BRICS summit, held in Kazan and led by Russia.

He had discussions with key figures such as Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali.

The main focus of their talks was on strengthening cooperation between the UAE and their respective countries, particularly in economic, trade, and development sectors. These discussions highlighted the importance of building strong partnerships that benefit everyone involved.

The leaders also addressed the BRICS summit's agenda, which emphasizes enhancing global cooperation to create a more stable and prosperous future for all nations.

The summit, themed "Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security," focused on improving collaboration in key areas like economic growth and trade. The Kazan Declaration, issued during the summit, called for necessary reforms to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to make it more inclusive and effective.

Additionally, the leaders expressed strong support for Palestine's full membership in the United Nations and backed a two-state solution based on international law. They also raised concerns about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank, urging for immediate and ongoing humanitarian assistance to those in need.
