SEOUL, November 5 (AJP) - Israel said on Monday it has ended its agreement allowing the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the main aid provider in Gaza, to operate within its territory, in line with recent legislation to sever ties with the agency.

Israel claims that UNRWA has connections to Hamas, an accusation the agency denies, affirming its commitment to neutrality.

Additionally, Israel confirmed its forces conducted a ground raid in Syria on Sunday, targeting a Syrian national accused of ties to Iran, marking its first publicized operation in Syria amid the current conflict.

Despite international calls, including from the United States, for a cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon, Israel has escalated airstrikes against Hezbollah beyond Lebanese border areas, while also intensifying its operations against Hamas in northern Gaza.

Lebanon's Health Ministry reports at least 2,900 deaths and 13,150 injuries from the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah, with women and children comprising a significant portion of the casualties.

In Gaza, over a year of conflict has resulted in 43,000 deaths, according to Palestinian health authorities, who report that more than half are women and children. This conflict followed an Oct. 7, 2023 incursion by Palestinian militants into Israel, which led to the deaths of around 1,200 civilians and the abduction of 250 others.
