The 45th edition, running from Nov. 13-22 at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt, features 194 films across 10 competition categories. CIFF opens with the world premiere of Passing Dreams by Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi, part of a showcase focused on Palestinian cinema.
The festival's lineup also includes films by directors Adam Elliot, Julie Delpy, Constance Tsang, and Bogdan Mureșanu, along with documentaries by Mati Diop and Raoul Peck, and a restored classics section.
This year introduces awards for best documentary, best African film, and best Asian film, with a special $5,000 prize for the best film on the Palestinian cause, sponsored by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation's Radio and Television Union.
CIFF also expands its Horizons of New Arab Cinema Competition, now awarding $25,000 across categories for best Arab film, director, screenplay, actor, and actress.
