SEOUL, November 22 (AJP) - China shared more details about its upcoming manned lunar mission in a video released Thursday by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

The video features an animation showing astronauts driving a lunar rover on the moon's surface, with a three-day driving route centered around the landing site during the Human Space Symposium in Shenzhen.

It highlights key technologies the mission aims to develop, including manned Earth-to-Moon round trips, short-term stays on the lunar surface, and human-robot collaborative exploration.

The mission will involve landing on the moon, rover exploration, sampling, research, and returning to Earth. It will begin with the launch of the Lanyue lunar lander aboard a new heavy carrier rocket.

Once in space, Lanyue will wait for the arrival of the Mengzhou manned spacecraft, which will rendezvous with it in lunar orbit. Astronauts will then transfer into the lander for descent to the lunar surface.

After completing their exploration, the astronauts will use the ascent stage of the lander to return to lunar orbit, where they will re-dock with Mengzhou to begin their journey back to Earth.

China plans to achieve its first manned lunar landing by 2030. This milestone will support large-scale space science experiments in lunar science, lunar-based science, and resource exploration. Prototypes of mission-critical components — including the Long March-10 carrier rocket, the Mengzhou spacecraft, the Lanyue lander, spacesuits for astronauts, and the lunar rover — are undergoing production and ground testing as planned, according to the CMSA.

"The development of the Long March-10 rocket, Mengzhou, and Lanyue, along with its lunar rover, is progressing rapidly," said Zhou Jianping, chief designer of China's manned space program, at the symposium.
