"I get along very well with [Kim]. I'm probably the only one he's ever really dealt with. When you think about it, I am the only one he's ever dealt with," Trump said in his interview with the U.S. magazine TIME which named him this year's Person of the Year.
He also shared his thoughts on North Korea's involvement in Russia's war in Ukraine, saying, "When North Korea gets involved, that's another element that's a very complicating factor."
When asked if he had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin since his election victory, Trump declined to comment, saying, "It's just inappropriate."
But he added, "Putin would have never invaded Ukraine if I were president for numerous reasons," repeating a couple of times, "It would have never happened if I were president."
When asked about abandoning Ukraine, he said, "I want to reach an agreement, and the only way you're going to reach an agreement is not to abandon."
Many pundits speculate that Trump will engage in talks with Kim once he takes office next month.
