They were winger Son Heung-min who scored three goals during the tournament; midfielder Ki Sung-yueng, captain of the Korean squad; and defenders Kwak Tae-hwi and Cha Du-ri. Thirty-four-year-old Cha, the oldest member of the Korean team, retired from international play after the tournament.

Four players from Australia, the winner of the tournament, also took spots in the best 11. They were midfielder Massimo Luongo, forward Tim Cahill, defender Trent Sainsbury and goalkeeper Matthew Ryan. Luongo was also named the player of the 2015 Asian Cup.

Australia defeated South Korea 2-1 in extra time in the Asian Cup final in Sydney, Saturday.

The United Arab Emirates, which beat Iraq 3-2 in the third-place football match, had two players on the 11-man roster. They were forward Ali Mabkhout, who scored five goals during the tournament, and midfielder Omar Abdulrahman. With the win, UAE was entitled to compete in the 2019 Asian Cup tournament.
