A Texas mom was arrested after killing her two daughters who are seven years old and five years old. After the arrest, when the 29-year-old mother recounted what happened, she showed no remorse according to the police report.
The mother later identified as Sarah Nicole Henderson of Henderson County, Texas. Her husband called 911 Wednesday night around 11:30 pm reporting his wife was suicidal. He called back soon after and said they did not need assistance anymore. The dispatcher canceled the EMS response but Henderson County sheriff's deputies still visited the couple's residence to check on them at about 11:45 pm.
Henderson and her husband said they were okay and nothing was wrong.
However, the husband called 911 again early Thursday morning at about 2:24 am to report that his wife killed her daughters. In the 911 call recording, the husband explained that he was asleep in the bedroom and their daughters were sleeping in the living room. He said his wife woke him up and told him that she fatally shot both kids. He couldn't "believe it" and went to check on kids only to find them dead.
Henderson County Sherif Botie Hillhouse told NBC news that when Henderson confessed the murder of her children, she showed not "much emotion". She told the detectives that she had been planning the murder for a couple weeks and intending to kill her husband as well.
It is not clear why Henderson stopped after killing her daughters and didn't shoot her husband while he was sleeping in the bedroom. The investigators also did not find the motive of the murder.
"It's a life-changing event for everyone - not only the family but all the first responders - that responded to the call. It's something that you don't ever forget", Hillhouse added.
Henderson is charged with one count of capital murder of a child under the age of 10. The second murder charge is currently pending. She is held behind bars on $2 million bonds. In the state of Texas, the murder of a child under the age of 10 is a capital offense that is punishable by life in prison without parole or death.
