SEOUL -- Big Hit Entertainment has updated fans on legal action against cyberbullies who have attacked K-pop band BTS with malicious rumors and hate comments.

Big Hit said in a statement uploaded onto Weverse, BTS' official smartphone fan community, that the company filed complaints against cyberbullies, based on evidence collected by fans. "The majority of suspects were investigated or face investigations in the future," it said.

The agency warned of hardline action against any form of attack. "We will continue to follow our principle and there will be no mercy or forgiveness in upcoming legal cases. We will continuously try to protect the rights of our artists."

While small entertainment agencies are reluctant to take action, Big Hit acts as the vanguard in a campaign against cyberbullies. The battle against cyberbullies has now spread to the whole entertainment industry since female singers Sulli and Goo Hara committed suicide after being dogged by hate comments and malicious rumors for years. The tragic deaths of two prominent artists prompted entertainment agencies to take tough action.
