SEOUL, July 01 (AJP) - The vibrant sounds of Brazil echoed through central Seoul on Wednesday as Lotte World Adventure brought a burst of carnival spirit to Myeong-dong, staging a colorful street performance to mark the start of its annual summer festival.
Brazilian dancers in dazzling feathered costumes paraded along Myeong-dong's UNESCO Street, captivating shoppers and tourists with energetic performances that briefly transformed one of Seoul's busiest commercial districts into an open-air carnival.
Artificial snowfall drifted over the crowd, offering a brief illusion of escape from the scorching summer heat as dancers invited spectators to clap, sway and soak in the festive atmosphere.
Children danced along the sidelines while visitors from around the world raised their smartphones to capture the spectacle. Once the music stopped, many queued to pose for photographs with the performers, extending the carnival long after the final beat.
The street performance served as a preview of Lotte World Adventure's summer festival, "Unsealed: Goblin Mayhem," which opened on June 26 and runs through Aug. 30. The seasonal program features the Samba Carnival Parade, the dance show "Samba Together," themed photo zones and other interactive attractions celebrating the energy of Brazilian carnival culture.
For a few lively moments, samba proved that sometimes the best escape from the summer heat is simply to dance through it.
