Samsung Electronics lifted its share of global DRAM revenue to 38 percent in the third quarter from 33 percent a year earlier, gaining ground at the expense of SK hynix and Micron Technology, according to Counterpoint Research. SK hynix's share slipped to 29 percent from 33 percent and Micron's fell to 21 percent from 26 percent, even as SK hynix narrowed the gap on a quarterly basis with revenue up more than 40 percent from the second quarter. Samsung's gains come as its HBM4 chips have been well received by customers, putting the company on course to take the top spot in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) in 2027 after SK hynix dominated the HBM3E generation, said MS Hwang, research director at Counterpoint.
