Nearing the one month mark since its opening, the 2012 Yeosu Expo has attracted over a million visitors from around the world.

The aquarium has been by far the most popular attraction, as up to 70-thousand people pass through the gate on its busiest days. In the aquarium, the visitors can view rare species like beluga whales up close for the first time in Korea. However, only those with patience can enter the aquariumsince the line for the exhibit can stretch three to four kilometers long on average, so visitors must wait for hours, which is causing many complaints from the visitors.

Cho Yong-hwan, Head of Public Relations Organizing Committee for Yeosu Expo] said, “To make the wait as pleasant as possible, we will set up more tents and consistently provide information about the wait time for popular pavilions. Also, we will put on more street performances so the visitors are not bored as they wait.”

One newly-introduced idea is the week-days evening pass. During the month of June, visitors can enter the expo site with an evening pass from 6 p.m. at half the price. The evening passes, available for around 15 U.S. dollars, is aimed at encouraging residents in nearby cities to come and enjoy the expo during weekdays at a lower price.

Unfortunately, all pavilions close at 9 p.m., giving evening pass holders only three hours to enjoy the exhibitions.

The Yeosu Expo still has another two months to run giving it enough time to make the necessary improvements.
