Kookmin Bank, a leading South Korean lender, opened a subsidiary in China on Nov. 21 in a bid to broaden inroads into China’s banking sector, a KB spokesman said.
With the establishment of the subsidiary in Beijing, the bank will not only provide banking services to clients in South Korea fast and conveniently but also offer advanced financial products to Chinese companies and retail clients as well as South Korean-invested companies and residents there, the spokesman said.
The bank also opened one more branch in China - the Beijing branch. As a result, the bank has four branches in China - in Guangzhou, Suzhou, Harbin and Beijing.
The opening of the new subsidiary in China brought the total number of the bank's overseas networks to 16, including those in London, Hong Kong, Cambodia, New York, Tokyo, Osaka, Oakland, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Mumbai and Kazakhstan.
In celebration of the establishment of the subsidiary, the bank held a round-table conference at a hotel in Beijing under the theme of "(South) Korea-China Financial Cooperation in the Northeast Asian Era."
