Soccer legend di Stefano dies at 88

Alfredo di Stefano, a legendary striker who is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, died at a hospital in Madrid on Monday (local time), the Spanish football federation said. He was 88.

Di Stefano, an Argentine-Spanish who was most associated with Real Madrid, was admitted to Gregorio Maranon hospital on July 5 after suffering a cardiac-respiratory arrest.

He shot Real Madrid to their first five European Cup titles from 1956-1960.
