Samsung beats Apple in US customer satisfaction for smartphones

Samsung Electronics took the No. 1 spot in a U.S. customer satisfaction index, beating its archrival Apple Inc. by two points.

Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker by sales volume, scored 81 points in the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) in 2014. The ACSI surveys 70,000 consumers in the United States every year.

Apple saw its score fall two points since 2013.

In 2013, Samsung ranked third with a score of 76. Apple took the top spot in 2012 and 2013.

Nokia and Motorola tied for third place with 77 in 2014, followed by HTC (75), BlackBerry (74) and LG Electronics (73).
