A Korean Air passenger jet made an emergency landing at a Japanese airport Friday due to smoke in the cockpit, the company said. No injuries or fire were reported.

The two-engine B737-900 jet carrying 151 passengers and nine crew members left the southeastern port city of Busan at 9:15 am (0015 GMT) and landed in Fukuoka at 10:22 am, the company said.

About five minutes before the plane's landing, the pilot detected smoke in the cockpit and asked the Fukuoka tower control to put firefighters and rescue teams on standby, it said.

Smoke disappeared after the plane touched down and all passengers and crew members got off safely, Korean Air said, adding airport authorities have launched a probe to see whether smoke was related to trouble in electric installation.
