Yoon will depart on November 15 at the Seoul Airport on a presidential jet for his trip to the United States. The South Korean leader also plans to warn APEC members that Russia's military cooperation with North Korea is a severe threat to global security and the Korean Peninsula. Putin earlier unveiled his plan to help North Korea develop new satellites.
On November 16, Yoon will take part in a conference for the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), a U.S.-led economic initiative that aims to find solutions for supply chain and renewable energy. The IPEF has a total of 14 countries including Australia, Japan, India, and Singapore.
The president is set to give a lecture at Standford University on November 17 with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The joint lecture will cover topics related to South Korea and Japan's collaboration in high-tech industries and South Korea-U.S.-Japan relations. In August 2023, Yoon agreed with leaders from the U.S. and Japan to establish a real-time warning system for North Korea's missiles at the trilateral summit meeting held at Camp David, the official U.S. presidential retreat near Washington, D.C.
This year's summit will also be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping. South Korea is currently discussing with China to hold the trilateral summit with Japan and China. The presidential office has not disclosed whether the bilateral talks with China will take place during the summit period.
