The second REAIM Summit, an international conference aimed at enhancing the understanding of AI-based military technologies and establishing relevant international norms, is being held in Seoul on Monday and Tuesday, with participation from defense and foreign ministers, as well as other officials from about 90 countries.
During the event, HD Hyundai, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) set up exhibition booths, each focusing on core technologies related to unmanned systems for maritime, aerial, and ground operations.
KAI presented unmanned systems incorporating AI pilot technology, such as the KF-21 and FA-50, along with a virtual reality simulator for the FA-50, centered on AI technology.
The 17-meter, 14-ton lightweight vessel is designed for stealth reconnaissance missions near enemy territories. Equipped with high-performance hardware and advanced AI, it will be integrated into Hyundai’s autonomous navigation and ship management system. The vessel is expected to be completed by 2026.
HD Hyundai also presented a virtual reality (VR) demonstration of a future battlefield command program centered on Tenebris.
REAIM stands for Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain. The inaugural meeting was held in The Hague in February last year, co-hosted by South Korea and the Netherlands. The second event is co-hosted by South Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, Kenya, and the United Kingdom.
