The ministry aims to secure 900 million yen ($6.22 million) in its fiscal 2025 budget request to support the project, which is intended to revitalize the Noto Peninsula quasi-national park and boost tourism in the region affected by the 7.6 magnitude quake.
Ishikawa's reconstruction plan, announced in May, includes redeveloping the park and creating a nature trail that showcases the area's managed forests, known as satoyama, and coastal features formed by the earthquake.
The initiative draws on the ministry's experience with the 1,025-kilometer Michinoku Coastal Trail, established in the Tohoku region following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Officials hope to leverage this expertise to provide financial support and technical advice to Ishikawa Prefecture.
The ministry is also considering assistance for projects to establish and release crested ibis populations in the prefecture as part of the broader reconstruction efforts.
