SEOUL, September 19 (AJP) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump plans to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week.

According to Reuters on Tuesday, the Republican presidential candidate made this announcement during a campaign event in Michigan, criticizing India as a "very big abuser" of trade relations with the U.S.

However, he did not disclose specific details about the schedule or location of the meeting. While Trump criticized India's trade practices without further explanation, he praised Modi as "a fantastic man."

During Trump's presidency, the two leaders maintained a close relationship. Modi even held a welcoming event at the world's largest cricket stadium when Trump visited India in 2020.

Modi is scheduled to attend the Quad summit on Saturday, hosted by President Biden in Delaware, alongside leaders from Australia and Japan.

Sources analyze that the U.S. views India increasingly as a counterbalance to China in Asia.
