Qatar is the 42nd country to join the visa waiver program, which is rarely expanded. Croatia joined in 2021, and Israel was added last year. To be included, countries must meet strict standards for law enforcement and border management. The program also requires reciprocity, meaning U.S. citizens must receive similar visa-free privileges in the participating country.
While U.S. citizens already had visa-free access to Qatar, they can now stay for up to 90 days, up from the previous 30-day limit.
