The initiative will bring together foreign and economic ministers from both countries, political sources said on Thursday.
The discussions are expected to commence following next week's G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro where Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are set to meet.
The proposed meeting will be focused on semiconductor technology collaboration, artificial intelligence development and supply chain resilience.
Trump's campaign promises of widespread import tariffs which could significantly impact Japan and Britain, respectively relying on U.S. markets for about 20 percent and 13.8 percent of their total exports.
