SEOUL, November 26 (AJP) - India's regulatory authority has rejected Apple's request to withhold a report investigating the company for alleged violations of antitrust laws in the Indian app market.
According to news reports on Monday, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) denied Apple's request to withhold a report investigating alleged violations of antitrust competition laws. With the rejection, authorities have decided to continue the legal proceedings related to the case.
Previously, CCI has asked Apple to submit audited financial statements for fiscal years 2021 to 2024.
Based on these documents, CCI is expected to assess the possibility of imposing a fine.
The commission is investigating whether Apple has abused its dominant position in the Indian app store market by forcing developers to use its in-app payment system, potentially violating antitrust laws. It also found Apple's practice of charging developers up to a 30 percent commission unfair.
Neither Apple nor CCI has made an official statement regarding the matter.
