SEOUL, January 03 (AJP) - North Korean state media has extensively covered South Korea's "political turmoil" in the wake of last month's short-lived martial law debacle here.

The official state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Friday that the "unprecedented" impeachment of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, who is now facing arrest, has paralyzed state affairs, leading to "social and political chaos" in the South.

The coverage, which provides details of the latest developments, comes a few weeks after Pyongyang first reported the debacle shortly after a motion to impeach Yoon was passed in the National Assembly on Dec. 14 last year.

KCNA also criticized South Korea's political system, describing it as the "collapse of liberal democracy" that the South has long adhered to, in what appeared to be internal propaganda aimed at emphasizing the superiority of the North Korean regime.

North Korea, which has ushered in the new year with an address from its leader Kim Jong-un, instead turned to criticizing the South, as Kim skipped his customary annual speech this time.
