SEOUL -- Idol band CNBLUE's Jung Yong-hwa said farewell to fans a day before his enlistment and uploaded a picture showing a short haircut.

The 28-year-old tweeted near midnight Sunday, "Hi guys, I'll be enlisting tomorrow. I wish the best for your health and I hope you guys fulfill your dreams. Don't worry about me because I'll be just fine. Goodbye for now!"

The singer will enter an army boot camp Monday in Hwacheon, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south from the demilitarized zone (DMZ), which separates the Korean peninsula, to start his mandatory military service. After five weeks of basic military training, Jung will be assigned to the Victory Division.

Because all able-bodied South Korean men aged between 18 and 35 are required to serve in the military for about two years, it is not rare for male celebrities to enter a boot camp. Fans waiting in front of military bases to catch a glimpse of celebrities have become a common sight.

However, Jung's agency expressed its wish to avoid unnecessary attention by saying that Jung wishes to keep a low profile when he enters the boot camp. Earlier this year, the singer was accused of being illicitly admitted into a post-graduate school program.

Police have accused Jung of starting a post-graduate program in an attempt to postpone his mandatory military service. The singer has insisted that entering the post-graduate school was not aimed at evading his military service.
