SEOUL, October 25 (AJP) - Cyclonic Storm Dana made landfall on India's Odisha coast on Thursday night.

Odisha's coastal districts experienced a sudden surge in wind speeds, reaching 100 to 110 km/h, accompanied by extremely heavy rainfall. Although there were reports of uprooted trees, no major damage or casualties have been reported so far.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm is expected to intensify, with gusts reaching up to 120 km/h.

Indian authorities closed schools, evacuated residents, and canceled trains ahead of the tropical storm.

Climate scientists say extreme storms are becoming increasingly common in South Asia. Global warming has made these events more intense and unpredictable.
