SEOUL, December 24 (AJP) - Major South Korean hotels are reporting significant sales growth from their private-brand (PB) Christmas teddy bears and related merchandise, as seasonal decorations drive experiential consumption.
Kensington Hotel Yeouido reported a 20 percent year-on-year increase in PB product sales after displaying its signature bears and doorman bear keychains, with the latter requiring a second restock due to high demand.
Hanwha Hotels & Resorts saw sales of its limited-edition Christmas bears, produced in collaboration with Teddy Bear Museum, surge nine-fold in November compared to the previous year. The company expanded its product line to include hand cream sets in response to growing popularity.
Hotel Shilla decorated its Jeju property with over 100 Shilla Bears, its signature character, while its bear-shaped cake "Shilla Bear's Whisper" has become the hotel's most popular year-end dessert, with reservations selling out despite increased production.
"Hotel Christmas decorations are evolving beyond mere displays into experiential consumption, naturally leading to increased sales of PB products like teddy bears and keychains," a hotel industry official said.
