Anyone can engage in various social and economic activities using their own avatars on Zepeto. The metaverse platform with more than 20 million monthly active users has collaborated with various companies including South Korean entertainment powerhouse YG Entertainment. Users can visit a fan-centered cultural space to enjoy music videos and roam around a virtual merchandise store.
Lisa, a Thai member of YG's K-pop girl band BLACKPINK who is also working as Italian luxury brand Bvlgari's ambassador, grabbed attention on August 31 by participating in various virtual events on Zepeto such as taking selfies with her fans. The event was held on Zepeto's Bvlgari World where users can explore the brand's virtual pop-up stores and cafes.
"Through extensive collaboration with True, which has a strong influence in Thailand, we will discover Thai creators who can accelerate Zepeto's development and create wonderful worlds and items," Naver Z business head Kang Hee-suk said in a statement.
Lisa has been promoting Thailand's unique cultural features while working as a K-pop artist. In September 2021, her solo music video, "LALISA," was praised by Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha for featuring Thai craftsmanship. In the music video, the 25-year-old also wears Thailand's traditional headwear called "rat klao" and presents traditional Thai dance.
Metaverse platforms that can be accessed using avatars are mainly based on super-fast 5G networks and optical internet cable networks. The operator of South Korea's top convenience store chain CU runs an online convenience store on Zepeto.
