China wanted their message heard clearly apparently. China advertised on major U.S. based Daily News including Washington Post and New York Times, “Diaoyu Islands are Chinese Territory.”
On this, Japanese consulate complained to WP on advertising it at all. However, WP remained that what the advertisement says has nothing to do with them.
As Japan claims island in Asia as their territory, many are feeling that Japan’s claims are not legitimate.
Melissa Estrada (39), a San Francisco resident, said in an interview with AJu Press, “If both countries, China and Korea, are saying that Japan’s claim is false then I am sure it is. I don’t know why Japan is doing that. Japan should just stop picking fights with those 2 countries over Chinese and Korean territories. What’s the point of all this? Isn’t Japan in recession? Oh then I am sure Japan want to make money out of this.”
95% of other interviewees had similar responds to the China & Korea vs. Japan dispute.
