Kim Young-mok, a former consul general in New York, has been appointed as the new head of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), a government agency responsible for overseas aid projects, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Kim, 60, a career diplomat, worked as a security aide for President Park Geun-hye during presidential campaigns last year and special assistant in foreign, defense and unification affairs at the transition committee.
Yoo Hyeon-seok, a professor of Kyung Hee University in Seoul, was named to head the Korea Foundation, the foreign ministry said on Monday.
Yoo, 50, seved as a member of the National Future Institute, a think tank for Park during the 2012 campaign.
