Former U.S. first lady Barbara Bush was hospitalized Monday (local time) in Houston, Texas, for treatment of early signs of a "respiratory-related issue, news reports said.
The 88-year-old was taken into Methodist Hospital in Houston's Texas Medical Center, but was in "great spirits," the office of former President George H.W. Bush was quoted as saying Tuesday in a short statement.
"She is in great spirits, has already received visits from her husband and family, and is receiving fantastic care," the statement said.
