German Chancellor Angela Merkel is walking with the help of crutches as she fractured her pelvis in a skiing accident, news reports said Monday (local time), quoting her spokesman.
Because of the injury she suffered during a skiing holiday in Switzerland, Merkel called off some foreign visits and official appointments, according to the reports.
Doctors said the injury will require Merkel to rest for three weeks. But the Chancellor would continue to lead the government and hold Cabinet meetings, the spokesman, Steffen Seibert, was quoted as saying.
