An area near Hongik University is the most congested area in Seoul, data showed Monday.
Vehicles can at an average speed of 12 kilometers per hour (kph) in the “Hongdae” area, according to the data compiled by the Seoul municipal government. Hongdae is actually short for "Hongik Daehagyo," or "Hongik University."
The Supyo-ro street came in second with 12.4 kph, followed by Chilpae-ro (13.5 kph), Mareunnae-ro (15 kph), Yangsan-ro (15.4 kph), Cheonggyecheon-ro (15.5 kph), and Namdaemun-ro and Yeoksam-ro (16.4 kph each).
In Seoul, Friday afternoon is the most congested period when cars can travel at an average speed of 21.6 kph.
